Here are the fun nuggets from the interview:
Fun nugget #1: Define your target audience. Niche down until it hurts!
Fun nugget #2: Optimize your website. Google does not like static websites, so blogging often (2-3 times per week) can be an excellent tool for visibility
Fun nugget #3: Leverage content. Give away free content in exchange for email addresses (and then nurture that list with ongoing great content)
Fun nugget #4: Tap into the power of community. Online groups and forums, in-person groups, trade associations, and cohorts are excellent ways to build early reviews and buzz
Fun nugget #5: Build your email list. Email list building is still a huge component of the all-important author platform
Fun nugget #6: Generate book reviews. Amazon reviewers, bloggers, Goodreads giveaways, local and small publications, book clubs, MidwestBookReview.com, and paid services like Netgalley.com, bookbub.com, and bit.ly/bookreviewtargeter. Download the NFAA’s FREE Report, 50 Ways to Generate Book Reviews: http://bit.ly/bookreviewlinks.
Fun nugget #7: Promote through both traditional media (radio, TV, magazines) and new media (internet radio, podcasts, and guest blogs)
Fun nugget #8: Embrace social media. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest each have their own unique advantages. Share your blog posts, tips, branded images and other content that appeals to your target audience. Useful tools include Hootsuite.com (for scheduling posts) and Tweetdeck.com (for monitoring Twitter activity)
