Power Up With the Best Protein Sources

*Fish
*Shellfish
*Poultry
*Wild game
*Omega 3 eggs
*Dairy products
*Beans
*Whole soy foods
*Nuts and seeds

Benefits of protein:
*Steady blood glucose levels
*Slow stomach emptying
*Lowers ghrelin (appetite).  Ghrelin is a hormone produced by specialized cells that line the stomach and the pancreas.  Ghrelin is one of the main hormones to stimulate hunger. Ghrelin levels increase before meals and decrease after meals, a mechanism that has its roots in the hypothalamus.
*Increases energy expenditure (calories use to heat the body/thermic effect)
*Preserves muscle mass (important as we get older)
*Less insulin released
