Here are the mantras from the show that you can incorporate into your daily life to be healthier and happier:
Mantra #1: Eat whole foods from Mother Earth– especially veggies! (Check out the book, Give It a Go, Eat a Rainbow if you want to get your kids excited about eating colorful fruits and veggies).
Mantra #2: Follow MyPlate (or Harvard’s Healthy Plate)– a huge improvement over the food pyramid!
Mantra #3: Get tools to overcome the 3 obstacles to eating on a budget (time, money, know how). The free slow cooker recipe booklet is a great place to start!
Mantra #4: Eat according to the 5-2-1-0 plan.
Mantra #5: Put an egg in soda to provide incentive for kids to cut down/eliminate sugary drinks. Here is helpful blog post about you might want to re-think your drink.
Here are a couple photos from the YEAH program class I attended when participants received free Hamilton Beach slow cookers. Love the smiles and enthusiasm for healthy cooking!
