EP130: Do Your Best & Be the Change

In this podcast interview, I get to introduce you to so many wonderful friends.

I need this loving kindness from my dogs and the education provided by Emily and Sara right now. I’m going through some challenging times.

Some days my life is truly Caca, as I say. Poop. 

I can’t blame anyone but myself, and even doing that seems like a harsh way to spend a day. But I’ve slipped up a bunch as I learn how to communicate authentically. My NDE taught me that life is too short to do things like sweep problems under the rug. It is always best to be authentic.

“Do Your Best” is one of the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.  (I love that book!). I can say that it’s REALLY HARD to be your best when you’re stuck in survival, stuck in the lower brain (Amygdala).  I have definitely not been my best self.

The agreements are so basic, yet profound.  I can tell you that if I DID follow them all the time, my life would not have caved in like it recently did (you know, the divorce, estrangement from daughter, unemployment, etc.).

But I can’t stay in boo hoo land forever, at least not as a place from which I originate.  What do I mean by that? I try to originate each morning from a place of gratitude, from a place of being a creator instead of being a victim.

I can’t always stay consistent in this positive, creative place because I’m human!  But the Four Agreements are my Bible for remembering how I want to live my life going forward.

In this solo cast short, I listen to a dear friend of mine doing a meditation, Emily Fletcher.  What I loved most about my interview with Emily is that she reminded us that if we are not practicing meditation (which helps with being in the creative mode), we can get

STUPID
SICK
And
SLOW

I want to change that. I do not want to feel like that, especially with all my current health issues.

For today’s show, I focus on the following mantras:

  • There’s no one in the cosmos like you. Be grateful for your natural, unique gifts. 
  • Say what you want to say about your feelings, with love.
  • Always do your best.  Breathe to get out of the Amygdala before you end up lashing out at someone you love.
  • Be the change you want to see in the world. 
  • Surround each other with beauty if you can. Hug a tree and feel the roots.
  • Take a timeout so that you can return to yourself.
  • Treat deep breaths as a sacred practice. They allow your higher self to come forward.
