As the hot summer days turn a bit cooler and crisp (that is already happening here in the mountains of Idaho for sure!), we often start to crave warmer foods to fuel our bodies.
I talk A LOT about the importance of breakfast.
And yes, I know mornings can be super hectic as everyone is trying to get out of the house.
So I'm going to share with you a recipe from Nurture, a nonprofit organization I founded in 2008 to help families eat healthy and yummy foods on a budget.

It's called Apple Pie Porridge, and you can download the recipes as a PDF file in either English and Spanish.
I've pulled a video out of my archives-
OMG look at my son Alexander! He is so little here (and I have many fewer wrinkles). 🙂
He is still cooking today. Here he is nearly 10 years later on an interview on CBS about his work as an illustrator of the book series, Give it a Go, Eat a Rainbow. All that healthy food really makes you grow! 🙂
