Sunshine Applesauce

We love applesauce and this Sunshine Applesauce recipe is easy to make in a slow cooker.  It tastes wonderful over oatmeal in the morning and makes a great addition to a lunch box.  It’s good cold or warmed up with vanilla (or pistachio or butter pecan) ice cream on top.  Think apple pie without the crust!

Ingredients:

– 9 or 10 apples, peeled, cored and sliced

– ½ cup water

– ½ – ¾ cup sugar, depending on sweetness of apples

– Juice of ½ a lemon

– ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on low for 5 hours. Stir and serve. Refrigerate leftovers.
