Rest Like a Jedi So that You Can Start the New Year Strong

With the busy holiday season and then all the things that need to get done as we start the New Year, sometimes you need to make sure to “rest like a Jedi”.

Yep, sometimes for our family, that means that we hit the snow slopes.

Skiing (and snowboarding for my daughter) has always been a great way for our family to spend some quality time together.

We talk about what we were excited about this past year as well as our goals for the new year.  Because the holidays are usually timed with the release of new movies (especially our favorites, anything Star Wars), we reflect on lessons from the Jedi.

As we were sitting on the lifts, somewhat exhausted between tough runs, we talked about how Quigon-Jinn did a little meditation in the middle of his fight with Darth Maul.  He should have won, we thought.  But maybe his death was parallel to how Obi Wan would be struck down by Darth Vadar in front if Luke, giving Luke the power he needed to fight the dark side.  I still can’t figure out what made Quigon-Jinn lose focus in his last fight against the dark side.  We decided that meditation on the lifts (in between tough ski runs) was a good idea no matter what.
